Winter in Michigan can be brutal and this winter is no exception. Icy and snow covered roads have become the norm this winter and one needs to make sure that they have plenty of tread on their tires for traction. The used tires sold at Warehouse Tire have been inspected for safety and still have plenty of tread left on them. Frugal consumers know that used tires can offer savings and that’s why Warehouse Tire sells over 3,000 tires per month.
Worn tires with no tread are unsafe because one’s vehicle can lose contact with the road surface and go into a skid. Since clean, dry roads have been few and far between this winter, having good tread is important. Even wet roads can be dangerous with hydroplaning. When the thin coating of water separates the tire tread from the road, the vehicle can lose traction and cause an accident. Tires with plenty of tread channel the water away and prevent loss of traction. To read more, one should visit Warehouse Tires’ Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WarehouseTire2.
Improperly inflated tires can cause a multitude of safety problems. Over inflated tires can create a scenario where not enough of the tire surface is on the road. This can lead to excessive wear in the middle of the tire’s tread and loss of contact with the road surface.
Under inflated tires can cause the vehicle to become unbalanced in curves where the rubber of the tire of actually flexes causing loss of traction. One should check their tires for proper pressure every few weeks to insure that they are inflated properly. Always use a tire gauge and fill the tires with the pressure recommended by the manufacturer.
An improperly repaired tire may fail when driven at high speed causing loss of vehicle control. Flat or damaged tires need to be repaired by qualified personnel. Almost any sharp object on the road can cause a flat tire. We repair tire tread punctures up to 1/4" in diameter. We do NOT recommend repairing larger punctures or punctures to the tire's shoulder and sidewall. For more information one should call Scott at Warehouse Tire at 248-683-0070.
