Detroit, Michigan News Releases

(Detroit.CityRegions.Com, June 17, 2014 ) Novi , Mi -- In recent weeks there has been a startling outbreak in foodborne illness, such as Salmonella and a recent super virus called ‘Norovirus'. At a small Chicago suburb at least 9 people reported feeling ill and were eventually diagnosed with Salmonella which baffled local city officials until discovering that the source of this outbreak came from the poorly sanitized deli at their local Jewel Osco store. The company has issued a statement to all who were sickened after eating at this small Tinley Park store "You may bring in your tainted items at any Jewel Osco for a replacement or refund". Needless to say customers were not happy.
Foodborne illness has become quite the epidemic in recent years due to many factors such as unwashed surfaces, poorly executed employee sanitation after bathroom use. Although most often it comes from the surface you use to try and keep your food safe like a poorly washed cutting board which was found in the small deli and tested positive for partial source of salmonella.
The CDC recommends that you should boil your cutting board and all cooking utensils at least once a week if not more to help prevent the spread of foodborne illness and to prevent future outbreaks like the one that hit the small suburb of Tinley Park.
There are some retailers like Todd Snively however who know the meaning of cleanliness and sanitation, who in a recent quote stated "There is little that shows more of a person's inability to care than when you get sick from eating a dish they prepared. Simply using two separate cutting boards for raw meats and fresh vegetables can easily avoid such a situation" And it's something that most Americans agree with strongly. Something as trivial as using separate cutting boards for raw meats and veggies can avoid such a situation with little to no effort. Color coded cutting boards can help you tell them apart and never interchange them, therefore avoiding possible foodborne illness.
