(Detroit.CityRegions.Com, June 25, 2015 ) Wolverine , Michigan -- Sturgeon River Paddlesports, has been and continues to be a full service livery that offers kayaking, canoeing, tubing, rafting, and shuttle service on the Sturgeon River in Northern Michigan. Bike rentals are a new services being offered as of the 2015 summer season.
Jamie Jacklitch, owner of Sturgeon River Paddlesports (SRP) has spent much of his life canoeing and kayaking the waters of the Wolverine Michigan region. In 2000 he moved to the small village near the top of Michigan's Lower Peninsula and in the spring of 2014 launched Sturgeon River Paddlesports. At it's origin SRP offered canoe, kayak, tubing and rafting trips on the Sturgeon River as well as a full livery service. As of the 2015 Summer season a new opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Northern Michigan will include daily and hourly bike rentals. This also opens the option for a combined biking/kayaking or biking/canoeing experience.
Close to Gaylord, Indian River, Petoskey and Boyne City the Sturgeon River is best known as a an exciting water sport and outdoor recreation destination. The river is a major attraction but what is less well known is that the area also offers many miles of well-maintained bike paths and trails winding through some of the most scenic areas of the state. SRP is conveniently on the North Country State Trail, which runs from Grayling to Mackinaw City.
"To this point my business has focused on the water resources of the area with the kayaks, canoes, rafts and tubes." Jacklitch said. "Bike rentals are one more way for visitors to get out and enjoy the incredible natural beauty of Northern Michigan."
Sturgeon River Paddlesports is a year round enterprise however the prime watersport season is from the beginning of June till the middle of August. Having bike rentals will extend the prime season well into the Fall color months of September and October. The winter season consists of guided rafting and wildlife viewing trips on the Sturgeon.
